At the EI offices in East Point we had representation from the Irish Internet Association, the Irish Software Association, the Institute of International and European Affairs and Enterprise Ireland.

It may even have been the first time that these associations met together to see how we can help find and support indigenous Irish internet businesses to scale internationally. It was fantastic to see this industry led initiative take shape and we had several of the industry supporters there as well.

This Alliance of associations and industry people is committed to identifying practical ways in which we can help Internet businesses scale. From this we agreed the early focus would be on seeing if we can develop a programme of support and education for established internet businesses that wish to scale. Work is now progressing on this idea.

I welcome this move-it makes sense for online businesses.
I am looking to my local community to educate and give my services for social media consultancy to local area partnerships and governmental services on how to use social media for businesses. I think young people and old in local communities need to know how to use these tools when creating something of value in an online enterprise.

My own hyper local news project 'The Castleknock Print Blog.com' is aimed at allowing locals to connect online using the likes of Facebook. Through our fan page, building a presence and community around this page and reporting local news using the like of Twitter as a broadcasting tool. Creating a link network for news reporting in communities is added value in collaboration.
